Southeast Louisiana Author's Alliance
SELAA
OUR SLOGAN:
Let's Remake A World
About SELAA
Alliance means a grouping, union, or an association, entered into for mutual benefits. A close association for a common objective.
The objective of SELAA was and still is to help writers, authors and future authors get published. We do this free of charge, by offering what we have experienced as writers.
The word by-law means:
The by-laws or RULES for this SELAA YAHOO group of people who assemble is to be respectful of each others words, and share what we have experienced.. good and bad .. so that others can learn from our good and bad events.
SELAA as an ONLINE support group. Anyone can join. We'll keep the same logo, because together we CAN remake a world!
There will be no President or officers who hold a seat. I will stay as the moderator of this group, and I will stay as a member of The SELAA Group.
I will continue to have book signings at BeB’s Place which will sponsor SELAA. I started the book signings in June of 2006 and had four signings before the years end. Jerry Bolton had a signing in June, I took my signing second in July, Myrna Badgerow signed in August, and Linda Corley had her signing in September.
I have a poster frame where each author is asked to sign in with the fairy pen and their book is showing on an easel in The Author’s Corner, and then their photo is placed ON the frame. I want to fill this frame up with our local authors. The photos are still in the photo section showing The Author’s Corner. I’ll have an Author’s Corner fixed in BeB's Place soon.
I’ve decided to have book signings six (6) months in the year.. from May until October, whenever there is an author who has a book to feature. In the event we have no author to come in for a signing, and this WILL happen, you are all invited to come over to BeB’s Place on any Saturday from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. when we have good weather, and sell your books outdoors on the back porch. Bring your books and business cards or flyers telling what your book is about.

OUR MISSION:
The mission of the Southeast Louisiana Author's Alliance is to promote and encourage writing and to create a supportive, caring environment for writers in the community by providing a way to have new authors recognized. BeB's Place will sponsoe SELAA for that reason.
Founded in October of 2005, the Alliance hopes to grow to support many members in the Southeast Louisiana area. SELAA will also provide guidance and support to other local Parishes in the formulation of their own Authors' Alliance.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe that the literary contributions of our local self-published authors merit a fair share of the critical acclaim so generously lavished on writers published by large publishing houses. Self-publishing has come of age and it is time for these gifted writers to receive recognition for their outstanding contributions to the culture of our area.
OUR PURPOSE:
To encourage writers to share their talents with others through publication.
MEMBERS: JOIN and leave your web page LINKS IN Yahoo Group ABOVE!
Anyone can join our Yahoo Group and be eligible for booksignings at BeB's Place.
Thank you.

"To sum it up, if you want to write, if you want to create, you must write every single day of your life. You must read dreadful dumb books and glorious books, and let them wrestle in beautiful fights inside your head, vulgar one moment, dreadful the next. You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like crazy hats upon your crazy heads. I wish for you a wrestling match with your Creative Muse that will last a lifetime. I wish craziness and foolishness and madness upon you. May you live with hysteria, and out of it make fine stories - science fiction or otherwise. Which finally means, may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world."
~ Ray Bradbury
